Overload Community Project no. 1

Post by LightWolf »

With people having figured out the Overload editor reasonably well, I think it's about time one of these happened.

The premise behind OCP1 is basically the same as that of The Enemy Within: Quality levels based around a structural theme with a license to be as wacky as you want (within reason :P ). I'm still working on the story, but so far it's basically about a high-profile terrorist who wants a top-secret warp technology and won't let normal functionality in Auto-Ops stop him.

The project is officially being coordinated on Discord (instant invite), but I can also work from here.

If you have any questions, ask!

Isn't there already a community mission on Steam? I thought I read something about it. Wish I had more time to play Overload, it's a damn good game. I seem to only have time for 5-10 minutes of Challenge Mode here and there, which sucks, because I want to replay the SP campaign again.

There is, though that was a collection of independent single-player levels tied together into a mission after the fact by the guys at Revival. (And I still need to play it, too...)

If you think you can actually keep the project going as long as it takes to finish it, wolf, I might consider building something after I finish the pack I've now got in progress.
Would be a good idea to set a rough goal for the number of maps you want -- if people decide to give you more than that then that's super, but even if they don't, as long as you've got a few people working with you you've still got a project that you know how to finish.

I think I can keep it going - how long was I submitting BS into Descent 1 1/2 hoping something would make it? :P
I know it's not quite the same thing, but still.

I was hoping for roughly 20ish levels overall, but I won't be disappointed as long as I get something memorable that is longer than Eodem Sequitur. Gotta outdo the devs on the DLC if I can't outdo the main campaign ;)

Devs on the DLC?
You do know the last two levels were me?

...well, let the games begin.

I meant in terms of size :P

All things considered though, there isn't a possibility of someone outdoing your levels :3

Oh but there has to be. It wouldn't be much of a competition otherwise would it?

Taking a cue from me I see. :P Good luck with the endeavor. It'll be a big one.

I've been following a similar one for 6 years now :P
Now get over to that Discord server and post a level!
