What is the purpose of normal walls?

Post by LightWolf »

Wherever I could even conceive to use one people would normally use a closed wall (including Parallax), so why even add normal walls to D1/D2?
Whatever I just said, I hope you understood it correctly. Understood what I meant, I mean.

I wonder about that too. Normal walls act just like "Close" walls, but they're invisible on the automap. So that's your use - if you want a wall to be there, but not register on the automap. Using "Normals" is a frequent newbie mistake, not excluding myself. "Close" is definitely better, unless you're a sadist of some sort. I dunno

Probably just a leftover thingie in the code that had ties to other things that were actually used so they couldn't take it out.
I'm no coder and even I know that happens a lot. Especially something as complex as a game (even one this simple :P).
