What is the best server to play on? Last night I was on Kali -> Descent server and no games :(

However my brother and I did manage to rip it up for a few!

Yeah, I saw you pop in at around midnight my time....which is rather late if you want to find a game. The best time is around 5 - 6pm CST.

I got Kali registered in 1997 I think. Played under the screen name Mik, was orginally a typo, meant to type Mike :P Does anyone still play d1 or d2? I doubt I would remember anyone, although I did play quite a bit back in the day...

Edit: Koolbear - I remember you had the best collection of Descent 1 and 2 levels of all time back in the day. and MD-2389 - recognize you from kali I think.

Hi Mik, ;)

Welcome back to the mines! There's still a good size crowd on Kali Descent these days. But mostly they are old men that want to chat ;)

You can email the Kali group and get your old number.

Make sure you check out the Hi-Rez versions available. I have the best luck with D2X-XL and others Rebirth. You can find both efforts listed in the Main FOrum Listing each has a forum with a link to thier sites.

I look forward to seeing you!

Regards,

KoolBear

Weren't you in the THUGS clan?

btw, if you lost your serial just e-mail jay@kali.net (Jay Cotton) with your real name, e-mail address you originally registered under, and the last six (or possibly in your case five) numbers of your serial (which you can look up here. While you wait, you can chat via KWeb.) Jay is very speedy when it comes to replying to emails so you shouldn't have to wait very long at all.

my serial is long gone...i was a <10k i think...played a year on the freebie 15 minute timer version of Kalidos and I had a batch script that just reconnected me. Finally decided I should pay for it :D

What is Jay up to these days anyhow?

Edit: lol, used the tool above and my serial was 3493. I used KaliDos long after they stopped supporting it.

Haven't heard anything about Jay for a while. He probably has another full-time job by now.

In 1998 we all went to Atlanta for the 'Fest and E3. Lots of IDL matches were played...and I ran the official Forsaken tourney. That was 10 years ago.

I recognize your name (Sirian). I only played Descent over Kali for a short time, as I was more into Quake and Command & Conquer at the time. :)
I did love the heck out of Descent II when it game out, though, and that quickly became a favorite of mine. I enjoyed Descent 3 as well and I'm at the point now where I wish I'd kept my copy of that game (I should go check my storage to confirm that I gave it away when I gave away all my old software).
I am enjoying going through Descent II again with D2X-XL these days.
Some of the best games ever made, for sure.

Hm. Wonder if anyone'll remember me... I was just the guy who talked in big words on the comms. :)

I don't belong in that list. I was an annoying n00b kid when all those other guys were well established in the community.

Sure do, Nihilist, though we chatted it up in Kalichat far more than flew against each other if I remember correctly. But that's never a bad thing. =)

Hi Lothar,

I sent you an email to the address in your username, but didn't get a response. Is there a better way to contact you? If anyone else has a current email, you could pm it to me, too...

Thanks,

oh here and there, haven't played D for quite some time now though :)

I remember the good ol' days of Kahn and Kali and the early Descent LANs here in the UK. I managed to start one short lived LAN event off with Wellie (anyone remember him?) called FRAG.

Had a clan with DriveX call Knights in Black too :)

Few other names I remember:

KoolBear
Zappafan
S8NSSON
MD-2389
Heiki Herrman
Gipsoncoil (I still have his £20 CAD for a domain name in my wallet!)

There are many more on the tip of my tongue... but it's been sooo long!

I remember the name Wellie pretty well. Been too long to remember much about the guy apart from being a Brit though.
