Got a new camera, Nikon D850, Lens Nikon 28-300. I've got the camera set to take pics at max info (about 9meg worth per shot. Set sharpening to +2 via camera settings. I calibrated the lens. I use NX Studios as my photo editor. My monitor is a Samsung 26" but it's about 15 years old. My problem is when I blow up images too 200% The edges of things like flower petals or bird feathers become blurry and not sharp. So I'm wondering if it might be the monitor. Anyone have experience with this? All I know is I can watch a 4k natgeo flick on my 65" plasma and detail looks crisp and clear even when they zoom in

Try showing the pis on the TV. Also, zooms tend to be less sharp closer to the max (300) so when you blow up the pic, it's fuzzy.

thats a 45 million pixel sensor: if you want details when zooming in, you need to be turning down the compression on jpegs or just use the raw files. the dimensions of the images are closer to 8,256 × 5,504 right?

also be aware that there is an upper limit of detail you can get at a given distance. Its probably not your monitor.
