Icon for D2X-XL on OS X
I can edit photos pretty good, but creation is not my strong point. So I'm wondering if there are any creative types out that want to take a stab at making an icon for the OS X binary of D2X-XL? It doesn't have to be made on a Mac. I can make the icon file using the developers tools. What I need is at least a 128x128 RGB w/Alpha (32bit) image. If you feel like going all the way, the icon file takes 4 variants that are used to generate all intermediate icon sizes. The full list looks like this:
what format should they be in???? PNG would be my first guess.
as for trying to create something...I am having the vision of a blue crystal orb with lightning around it....something sharp w/o the w32 text on the icon itself....
Might use GIMP, or even Blender...dunno yet...don't count on me, seriously

NovacroN released a few hi-res Descent icons a while back; you can grab them here. I don't know if that's the type of thing you're looking for, though.
I can't do any better than Novacron's icons. They're just too perfect.
As far as the .dmg background, right now I'm going for a screengrab from the D2 opening movie with a box in the middle that will contain the D2X-XL package and a symlink to /Applications, similar to this example but, of course, D2-themed.
I'm just trying to determine whether to include any text in the background image. I know we have a lot of German as well as English speakers who use D2X-XL. Is it worth the clutter (and possible missing characters in the D2 font) to include text?
