Gyro aiming - mixed controls
I have a Playstation Dualsense controller, and I use it mainly because of its gyro I installed DS4Windows in order to convert the gyro input into mouse movements, and basically use this as mouse aiming in D3 the controller is otherwise used quite conventionally ... the left thumbstick controls ...

You should set your windows speaker configuration to match what you are actually using. So if you have a 5.1 system wired up and are using it out loud set it to 5.1, or if you are using headphones set it to either stereo or headphones. If you have it set to 5.1 but don't actually have a physical 5 ...

I hated the 3D sound in D3, irritated the heck out of me -- sounds are created stationary, ie. you move away from the laser sounds when shooting while moving. Gives you false position readings for other ships as well. really? i thought only D1 and D2 had static sound, and D3 had proper realtime ...

about the gravity... its strange that in D1, they had a better sense of true zero gravity , since the levels had arbitary up directions which changed between different parts of the level, and yet according to the storyline they are all set on planetary bodies which should cause them to exhibit ...

well on one hand you could call it a poorly written storyline, but i'd rather call it a 'loose' storyline i do wish that more popular modern games can have loosely written storylines like this and engage players through the interactive elements question, is it possible to alter gravity in a D3 level ...

and whats the deal with the Red Acropolis way of thinking, anyway... first you break into a PTMC facility, then you break someone out of a Novak prison, and then you go to the lab you saw in the beginning cutscene and apparently interfere with an active investigation according to the radio dialogue ...

so im just trying to get positional audio to work in D3 .... i have found 2 options so far, SRS audio sandbox ....using D3's directsound 4 channel output and using the SRS filter to create virtual surround sound this is basically like a 'virtual sound card' , affects all the sounds on my computer ...

yes, the xbox360 controllers are much more comfortable to use the sticks on... but they only seem to sell the really expensive and marked up genuine controllers where i live, and all of the 3rd party controllers are still following the PS2 dualshock design... dunno if the other controller designs ...

the limitation of my config is that you can only fire primary OR secondary weapons, not both simultaneously, so things like shooting missiles while charging up the fusion cannon become impossible... unless your particular pad can be held properly with only 2 fingers in each hand, and still let your ...

any of you have D3 installed on W7, with a surround sound audio setup ? and using directsound mode , not directsound3d or EAX for those of you using creative soundcards with alchemy does D3 output to all the channels or is it only stereo? i only have headphones, just tried SRS audio sandbox and SRS ...

i found a thread somewhere which said that to fix the terrain rendering distance dropping back to 40 , you have to reduce the terrain detail to below 26... that thread is on descentbb.com , and the terrain detail was referred to as 'texture slider' , but it fixed it for me... abit of extra roundness ...

yeah the optional generators were quite a challenge, especially when it was spawning the fusion mechs... but the last one in the row was gyros and it was quite a nice relief funny, the tubbs ignored me and just kept patrolling, and it was the patrolling plasma squid bots which opened fire on me and ...

left stick = lateral movement (slide vertical and horizontal) , push down = afterburner right stick = pitch and heading, push down = flare L1 , L2 = forward and backwards R1 , R2 = primary and secondary fire d-pad left and right = banking those are the basics.... everything else is miscellaneous it ...

the level involves alot of mouse-aimed vauss cannon use ...and i've only just realized that the vauss cannon and sniper rifle shoots differently if you use the mouse to fire vs the joystick if you are using the pyro ship , shooting the vauss with the mouse would only cause the left side to fire ...

the guidebot in D3 definitely isnt as reliable as it was in D2 ... it kept getting stuck at walls, the further you let it get away from you, the more likely it is that it will not be able to get back to you plus it has a stupid habit of getting right in the middle of your view so it gets shot by you ...

didnt D1 and D2 had limits on how many different textures they could have in each level? that was why i thought it was a technical limitation but i really did prefer the D1 levels to the D2 levels, well at least the water, lava and ice themed levels anyway... i dont know how many people see having ...

good point, but then again if he was so worried about the ship why did he send the self destruct code to the warp core in the first place.... anyway,i think that they were more interested in the show than in the storyline, something like pro wrestling... hence they had a more and more defined role ...

well what can i say, finished D2 at last, 13 years or so after i first laid my hands on a 486 or pentium computer and had my first experience of the guidebot and the thief back then dualshock controllers didnt really exist, but now with the 4 axes and 14 buttons it makes combat maneuvres much easier ...

my preferred method of dealing with the thief is to hang around in an open location, and when it approches me, i afterburn towards it, when i am close enough i shoot a mega missile... if the thief tries to go through a door it will get hit, but if it turns a sharp corner it would miss, so careful ...

Thiefbots- the trolls of Descent 2 and 3 :P There was a thiefbot in D3? I guess it didn't have the same effect, since I don't even remember it. theres one in the second level heck theres even a Super Thief in one of the later levels... i only vaguely remember fighting it with my Sidewinder Force ...
